Ndoro Stud Earrings - Small
Ndoro Stud Earrings - Small
Our Ndoro studs are based on the ancient Ndoro's that were commonly used for trade during the height of the Great Zimbabwe Empire. The Ndoro's were initially introduced by the Portuguese and were made either of conus shell or porcelain. The people of Great Zimbabwe adopted these into their culture. The number of Ndoro your wife wore indicated not only your wealth but also your status in the community.
Our stylized version of the Ndoro's is made in sterling silver and is 10 mm in diameter. These earrings are handcrafted in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
We lovingly wrap each ring in hessian and package it in our round sisal baskets. Due to the handmade nature of the baskets and the organic material used, color and pattern may vary. Our baskets are made by women from Lupane and Matopas who belong to groups that promote fair trade and self-sufficiency.
