African Inspired Torque Bangle
Our simple torque bangle design is based on one of the most ancient of jewellery designs. As far back as the Bronze and Iron Age torque bangles were considered a status symbol. A torque bangle could tell you that the wearer was an important person or a brave warrior.
Our torque bangle design is a clean and simple interpretation of the ancient torque bangle. The bangle is made from a rectangular silver bar and ends with a twisted flourish and cap on which the silver balls sit.
The most common sizes that are requested for these bangles are 60 mm, 65 mm, 70 mm and 75 mm - this is the inside diameter of the bangle. This bangle is a torque bangle and is put on over the wrist and not over the hand so the sizing would depend on the wrist. These bangles are hand made in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
We lovingly wrap each item in hessian and package it in our square ilala palm baskets. Due to the handmade nature of the baskets and the organic material used - colour and pattern may vary. Our baskets are made by women from Lupane and Matopas who belong to groups that promote fair trade and self-sufficiency.
