Found these malachite beads at a market in Lusaka, Zambia. The old gent who sold them to me said he had made the beads by hand. Looking at his old weathered hands I could see he was telling me the truth.
I love meeting the artisans who make our components. Not a single one of them is exactly the same shape or size which makes them unique.
Malachite to me is a particularly African stone and it was with that in mind that I decided to use the texturing effects on these earrings. As much as life in African can be a bit rough and will leave it's mark on you, it's your choice to ignore negative energy and live a beautiful life.
We lovingly wrap each item in hessian and package it in our square ilala palm baskets. Due to the handmade nature of the baskets and the organic material used - colour and pattern may vary. Our baskets are bought from local Zimbabwean groups who promote fair trade and self-sufficiency.
